Unearth a Story - Summer Reading 2026

Summer Reading 2026 from June 8 until July 24

Unearth a Story at the Santa Clarita Public Library

This summer, the Santa Clarita Public Library invites readers of all ages to dig into a season of stories, discovery and hands-on fun. From June 8 through July 24, the Summer Reading Program will bring prehistoric-themed programs, creative activities, performances and learning experiences to every Library Branch.

Participants can join the Summer Reading Challenge by logging their reading days at SantaClaritaReads.com to earn books and prizes along the way. Whether reading a few pages or finishing an entire book, every day spent reading helps build the habit of lifelong learning.

The season begins with the Summer Reading Kick-Off on Saturday, June 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Old Town Newhall Branch. Families can enjoy activities, entertainment and the opportunity to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge.

Throughout the summer, families can also take part in Check It OUT-Side, a weekly series that brings story time and family-friendly activities to local parks across the community.

Free Lunch at the Library will also return to the Old Town Newhall and Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Branches from June 8 through July 24. Youth 18-and-under can enjoy free, healthy lunches Monday through Friday, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., in partnership with School Day Café and the USDA Summer Food Service Program.
